Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom No. 1 at weekend box office

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom posterFour of the top five movies at the weekend box office were brand new releases. Check out the top five below.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starring Jason Momoa in the title role debuted with a total take of $28.1 million in its first weekend at the box office.

Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet as a young Willy Wonka was the only movie to remain in the top five from last weekend. It dropped to second place with $17.7 million for a two-week total of $75.2 million. Click here to read our review.

The animated film Migration about a mallard family flying south debuted in third place, earning a total of $12.3 million.

The romantic comedy Anyone But You starring Sydney Sweeney debuted in fourth, taking in $6.2 million.

Rounding out the top five was the action thriller Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, earning $5.5 million.
