Orlando Bloom won’t be cashing a $40 million paycheck to star in The Prince of Persia—in fact, he won’t be in the movie at all, according to Walt Disney. The studio admitted they’re looking to cast a big star in the lead role, but laughed off speculation of Bloom’s big pay day. It was reported that the Pirates of the Caribbean star had edged out High School Musical’s Zac Efron for the starring role in the video game adaptation but Disney denies either would have any involvement with the film. Soon after Disney quashed the Bloom rumor, reports surfaced that null star Jake Gyllenhaal is being considered for the part. There was no comment from the actor’s camp regarding the new rumor, but multiple Hollywood sources claim Gyllenhaal has already been offered the role. The Prince of Persia Sands of Time will be directed be Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and is slated for release in June 2009.
