Channing Tatum has revealed a Magic Mike musical is still ”in the works.”
The much-anticipated sequel, Magic Mike XXL, to the 2012 film about male strippers is set to be released this July but it isn’t the only project set to get fans’ hearts racing as the hunky actor has revealed he still plans to bring the story alive on the stage.
Channing told Entertainment Weekly: ”We’re getting it going. Oddly enough, the second one lends itself more to the musical. I think our original idea was to do a prequel, like how Mike got in.”
Channing was also quizzed as to whether there could be a third Magic Mike movie if the second installment does well.
And the 34-year-old star would be prepared to reprise his role as the titular character if the second film does well at the box office.
When asked if fans could expect a second sequel, he said: ”I really don’t know. I wish I could say yeah because we have so much fun on them. I’m never going to say never, but if we did it – because the first one is so different from the second one – I would probably just try and change it again.”
