The producers of Family Guy have been known to push boundaries, but this time they may have taken the joke too far. With the television season over and Emmy consideration under way, it’s the time of year when television producers campaign, hoping to be recognized when nominations are announced later this summer. While the crass animated comedy is known for being tongue in cheek with the academy, their latest stunt has voters crying foul. This week, DVDs were sent out to Emmy voters featuring four Family Guy episodes. The disc also came with a card depicting the show’s titular hero, Peter Griffin, saying, “Come on you bloated, overprivileged Brentwood Jews. Let us into your little club.” The flip side of the card featured television’s favorite baby, Stewie Griffin, with the tag, “It’s a secret ballot. You can still tell people you voted for Modern Family.” While this snafu is tame compared to jokes the series has made in the past, not all voters found the dig funny. “Stereotyping any particular ethnic group is just not cool and can lead others to feel a certain license to take shots,” an anonymous TV producer told The Hollywood Reporter. “Surely Seth [MacFarlane] has better stuff than this.” Family Guy has won five Emmy Awards but has never taken home the Outstanding Comedy Series prize. It was previously nominated only once, in 2009. ~Kyle Sharp

Disney and Fox’s merger has finally gone through, creating arguably the biggest global content powerhouse, which creates exciting possibilities for moviegoers.
I agree, this stunt pushed the limits of good taste too far – the jewish people have had an amazing capacity for humour and “laughing at themselves” but they have also endured ridicule that is hurtful and damaging. This show should be taken off the air for this stunt
If a F@#$ing great joke. “justme” needs to get his/her head out of his/her ass. I’m offended that the Simpsons never won best comedy (or even nominated) or that Community has never been nominated….
oh get a life people!!!
pas de bon goût!
Yes it is a little crass and crude, but come one, its Seth McFarlene what did you expect? I don’t know if this blew its chances but we’ll find out sometime soon. If The Simpsons and Community cant get nominated for Best Comedy, even though they’re freaking hilarious, while Glee can, despite the writing being rubbish, then something needs to save the nominations for Best Comedy. Hopefully its Family Guy
