Frozen II easily topped the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend box office, while the new movie Knives Out took second place, pushing Ford v Ferrari to third.

Last weekend, Frozen II set the record for the biggest global opening for an animated film ever. During its second weekend, it made an additional $85.3 million, the biggest non-opening weekend for an animated film (ahead of Incredibles 2‘ $80 million in 2018) and $123.7 million over the five-day holiday weekend, making it the highest-grossing U.S. Thanksgiving weekend of all time, topping The Hunger Games: Catching Fire‘s $109 million take in 2013. The new murder mystery movie Knives Out opened on Wednesday. Starring Christopher Plummer and Daniel Craig, it debuted in second place, earning an estimated $27 million from Friday-Sunday for a 5-day total of $41.7 million.

Dropping one place to third was Ford v Ferrari, starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon. It earned an additional $13.2 million for a total of $81 million in its third weekend.

Dropping one spot to fourth was A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks as the beloved children’s TV host, Mr. Rogers. It took in an additional $11.8 million for a total of $34.3 million during its second weekend.

Rounding out the top five was the other new movie that opened on Wednesday in time for U.S. Thanksgiving: Queen & Slim. Starring Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith as the title characters, it earned an estimated $11.7 million over its first weekend for a five-day total of $15.8 million. ~May Wong
