Ben Affleck‘s new movie The Town, which he directed, co-wrote and starred in, debuted as the top movie at the box office this past weekend, taking in an estimated $23.8 million (all figures U.S.) and earning a Tribute Viewer Rating of 4 stars out of 5. The new comedy Easy A opened in second place with $18.2 million and a Tribute Viewer rating of 4 stars. In third was the horror film Devil with $12.6 million and a Tribute Viewer rating of 3.9 stars. Last weekend’s top movie, Resident Evil: Afterlife, dropped to fourth place with $10.1 million and a Tribute Viewer rating of 3 out of 5 stars. Rounding out the top five was the new animated film, Alpha and Omega, earning a perfect 5 stars out of 5 from visitors to Tribute.ca. Last weekend’s top movie The American, starring George Clooney, dropped to seventh place, making an additional $2.8 million and a rating of 2.3 stars from Tribute viewers. Canadian box office results will be posted this afternoon.

I’m seeing this movie tomorrow night. Affleck used to have a talentless stigma attached to his name, but he’s really starting to come into his own and out from Damons shadow. I’m really looking forward to it and so are my buddies.
