Corey Haim died of natural causes

A coroner’s report into the cause of Corey Haim‘s death has ruled the Canadian actor passed away from respiratory distress – not a drugs overdose, as previously believed. While the report found traces of drugs in his system, none were a high enough capacity to contribute toward his death. Upon hearing the results of the autopsy, Corey’s mother Judy told RadarOnline.com: “It’s a positive thing. I really can’t say more than that, but yes, it’s a good thing. I feel vindicated.” The report also noted the actor was suffering from the condition hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — meaning the muscle in his heart thickened, making it hard for blood to flow, and the arteries which supplied blood to Corey’s heart were also hardened. At the time of death the 38-year-old actor’s heart was nearly twice the weight of a normal heart and some vessels were as much as 75 per cent blocked, according to the coroner’s report. Corey passed away March 10 at the California home he was sharing with his mother.

wow. im glad to hear it wasnt drug related. this is sad news. rest in peace. im glad his mother at least gets to know that he didnt OD.
Mandee, often years of drug abuse takes it’s toll, and the effects are cumulative, causing one to die ‘naturally’ at 38.
Like toxin build up is true enough, but I can also see the kind of life he lived was also stressful too. It can take a toll on anyone, so if this is what happened to him, it is truly sad that this was the way he went. So perhaps with this kind of condition, perhaps it can help others to understand what it is and how to prevent it in the long run.
I agree demigod. It is probably misleading to give the impression drugs had no influence in his death. Sure, they weren’t the cause of death, but what physiological and psychological effect did it have on him? Did past drug use affect him so that he didn’t do anything about his symptoms? Isn’t it very unusual for a young ‘healthy’ person to die of pneumonia, when treatment is available? Did the drug use contribute to his heart and other problems?
He didn’t OD, but that doesn’t mean drugs weren’t a factor in his early and unnecessary death. Tragic, for him and his family.
Also, he doesn’t strike my as the workout type lol Can’t underestimate the importance of staying active.

This is a Genetic Disease (Gene Mutations),passed down from a family member,from generation to generation.It has few if any symptoms,often it goes undiagnosed.It usually starts at birth, and can be diagnosed as a heart murmur.In 1% of population who have this disease,the person may have shortness of breath or abnormal heart rhythms.Most often the first signs of a problem is cardiac arrest (death).The person can be active,in sports etc and still drop (die)!It has nothing to do with the use of drugs of any kind,drugs most often attack the liver!!!!!If you are lucky enough to have the symptoms they can implant a defibrillator to help correct the heart rhythm,but it will not stop the heart muscle from thickening or stop the hardening of the arteries!!!!!Most definitely Cory died from natural causes!!!Handed down from his family gene pool.RIP Cory!
gypsy, while it may be true the heart condition is congenital (I don’t know myself if it is or isn’t), it is impossible to say what may have exacerbated the problem. However, he apparently didn’t die from the heart problem, but from respiratory distress, (reported elsewhere as pneumonia). So again, though he died from ‘natural causes’ and not directly from drugs, it is possible that drugs and his lifestyle contributed to the condition that finally killed him.

silver and demigod, i agree past drug use may have helped cause his death, but im glad he didnt OD. his mother wont think his past has anything to do with his death, and thats all that matters. it would be harder for her to live life thinking he died due to his past drug use.

Silver,respiratory distress (doctors terms) is the same thing as shortness of breath (layman’s terms),lack of oxygen from lungs to the heart and visa-verse!I will agree his lifestyle was stressful which didn’t help the heart,but I disagree that the type of drugs he used contributed to his passing.
My dog has the same heart problem. The vet says he’ll die of it one day (he’s only two now), but with the meds he may live for several more years. When you have that condition you really need to take care of yourself or you could die tomorrow. My dog would be dead right now if he hadn’t been diagnosed and put on meds.
