Justin Bieber is Ryan Gosling’s cousin

By Tribute on October 12, 2012 | 15 Comments

According to Ancestry.com, pop singer Justin Bieber is distant cousins with Ryan Gosling, Avril Lavigne and Celine Dion.  In fact, their heritage goes back 400 years ago to Quebec’s earliest settlers, who were relatives of these well-known celebrities. Gosling and Bieber are 11th cousins once removed whereas Bieber and Lavigne are 12th cousins, according to the website. Dion and Bieber on the other hand, are 10th cousins three times removed. Michelle Ercanback, a researcher from Ancentry.com told Associated Press, “The great thing about family history is that you never know what you’re going to find.” Lesley Anderson, an expert in genealogy stated that finding these relations is “fascinating” and is especially “rare.” She said: “There’s something special about discovering a shared connection, and to be able to go so far back in history to do so is one of the most satisfying aspects of family history research.” ~ Luxy Hariharan

And if you go back far enough, we’re all related to the amniote that crawled out of the ocean millions of years ago! Yeah! The Biebs is my distant cousin too!

I really think this is all a cheap publicity stunt by Ancestry.ca, just to get more customers to use their program. How low do you have to go?

I don’t think Ryan Gosling would want the world to know he’s related to ANY of those people.

OMG I just wasted 15 seconds of my life reading this useless article. What has my life become? I guess I’m just bored. Why do people give a shit about celebs still?
