Modern Family actor finishes high school at 13

Actor Nolan Gould is best known for playing dopey little brother Luke Dunphy on the Emmy-winning ABC comedy Modern Family. But after the young celeb stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this week, Gould — who is only 13-years-old — announced he has already graduated from high school and is ready to start trying his hand at some online community college courses. The youngster told Ellen that “over the summer I did a lot of studying,” and that he also “took an exam and tested out of high school.” While this information may be surprising to many Modern Family fans, it’s certainly no shock for those who have heard about Gould having an IQ of 150 and about him being a member of MENSA: the largest and oldest high-IQ society in the world. Also an aspiring musician, Gould got to show off some of his other hidden talents while on Ellen when he played ‘Buffalo Gals’ on the banjo. As part of the cast of Modern Family, Gould has won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy. ~Brandon Bastaldo

He’s wasting his brain being an actor. It’s a job that requires very little brain power. Look at how many high school dropouts are actors. If you read their biographies, most of them say they couldn’t do anything else so they became actors.

I don’t think acting is easy. Just for some people it comes naturally to give a convincing performance and memorizing major lines and knowing your mark and the patiance waiting for make up and learning about your character (if its a bio flick) and soo much more.
I’m glad he’s a smart kid and I hope he pulls a Mayim Bialik who is an actual doctor with a Phd in Neuroscience. Having a real education and real doctorate that isn’t just an ‘honourary’ one like most actors seem to achieve is amazing in my books. If you can travel the world and still do plays and tv and movies and still get a real education is amazing. I hope he does well.
