Aniston and Jolie snubbed by Oscar nominations – full list!

The nominees for the 2015 Academy Awards were announced this morning in all 24 categories. Birdman and  The Grand Budapest Hotel led the way with nine nominations each. Angelina Jolie, who was not nominated in the directing category for her movie Unbroken at the Golden Globes, was snubbed again by the Oscars, although her movie received several nominations. Jennifer Aniston, who appeared to be a shoo-in for her incredible transformation in Cake after getting a Globe nod, was also overlooked.

As expected, Richard Linklater, who won the Golden Globe for his groundbreaking film Boyhood was nominated, as was his film for Best Picture. In total the movie received six nominations. Golden Globe winners Julianne Moore, Michael Keaton and Eddie Redmayne were nominated in the Best Actress/Actor categories, while Supporting Actor/Actress winners at the Golden Globes – J.K. Simmons and Patricia Arquette – also received nods.

Surprises came in the form of American Sniper, which was completely absent from the Globes. It received a Best Picture nomination, with Bradley Cooper nominated in the Best Actor category. It also was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and several other awards.

The LEGO Movie, which received a Golden Globe nod, was left off the list for the Oscars, replaced by two lesser known animated features.

The Academy Awards ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 22, 2015 and will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.

   Almost without exception, the dullest and most insipid movies are nominated. I can’t believe the Grand Budapest Hotel was nominated. I must because it is just so weird and quirky. I had a few chuckles, but it’s not exactly a life affecting experience. The only other one I saw was Gone Girl and it held my interest. More weird vibes in this movie. Maybe this is the current trend for award nominations. Every movie I saw in the theatre this year were so boring, I almost fell sleep each time. Whatever happened to engaging characters, interesting plots, snappy, smart dialogue?

   Snepts and dee56 are stupid negative Nellies and are the type of people who want to input their negativity just because… Snepts, there were only 8 films nominated in the Best Picture category; dee56, you say that the only movies from the nominations that you saw were The Grand Budapest Hotel and Gone Girl and that every other movie you saw in theatres were so boring. Perhaps if you saw some (more than 2) of the nominees you might not have been so bored. Your comment is completely inane. The rest of us who saw most of the nominees and are writing down the names of the nominees that we didn’t, so that we can locate them and watch, would prefer that you type of people would simply not comment on such things as your views are not valid and are simply posted to try and act cool because the current culture thinks that negativity equals hilarity or wisdom. But you really end up looking like fools.
