Simon Cowell rips American Idol in new X Factor video

By Alexandra Heilbron on July 14, 2011 | 13 Comments

Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who left the show last year, seems to be taking a pot shot at the show’s new judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, in a promo spot for his upcoming show, The X Factor. In the TV ad, Cowell, along with fellow judges Paula Abdul, LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger, praise incredibly awful singers who are auditioning for them in an American Idol audition room setting, most of them singing “Tomorrow” from the Broadway musical Annie. Cowell eventually wakes up and shakes off the nightmare; then the ad shows excerpts from The X Factor, in which Simon is his usual, brutally honest self. Check out the video below:

I love this commercial. It made me laugh out loud. Simon looks great in pink 🙂

All this show looks like is another American Idol. Only difference is they are focusing on the judges high end fantasy life. And they’re stroking the judges egos. Like what mess is this.

Enough with all the singing and dancing shows already.

Simon had his eyes done – adorable for an old fart.

I had YEARS of this cr*p back in the UK. I thought I had escaped it when I moved to Canada but now they’re doing an American version of the show!
This is NOT the talent show it professes to be! This is just an excuse for people to vote for the prettiest singer! If you want a REAL talent show, watch the next season of THE VOICE, where the competition is TRULY based on talent and not looks!

Just to note, that is actually Simon’s Bugatti in the commercial. Ego? Absolutely. But if I had the means, I would do it too!

Simon is a waste of space, he should be band from TV, he is rude and as far as I know has no talent of his own. I would love to see him sent back to the UK and let him live with his mommy again, she must be the only one who loves him, if she does. It is hard to believe that he has another stupid show for him for belittle people to make himself feel better about himself. please please please take him off the air.

Simon is an idiot but at least he gives people a dose of reality that their family failed to do. I agree with Germain, stop with these damn singing talent shows. This X Factor might be more serious tone and not so lovey dovey like Am.Idol, but really stop beating a dead horse. Think of something new to show on TV

I think Simon is so down to earth and honest and that is why some people do not like him but me and my husband think he is fantastic and honest not like other judges who sugar coat things.

Just look at that hair… it looks like a crow landed on his head.

Yippee Simon is back, love this arrogant Brit.
