Stephen Collins’ lawyer accuses wife of extortion

Stephen-Collins-creditA day after TMZ released a tape of 7th Heaven actor Stephen Collins admitting to child molestation, his lawyer is pointing the finger at Collins’ estranged wife, Faye Grant, whom he claims has been threatening to release the tape if his client didn’t pay her millions of dollars. “When these demands were rebuffed, Faye attempted — without success — to peddle the tape in numerous ways to numerous different people,” lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan claims. “It appears that she has finally found an audience for this tape — not surprisingly, on the eve of the trial in the divorce case where, again, she is seeking millions of dollars more than that to which she is legally entitled.”

Grant secretly recorded a confession made by Collins during a couples therapy session, where he admitted to several incidents of child molestation with young girls between the ages of 11 and 13. TMZ reports that the incidents occurred roughly 20 to 40 years earlier. Collins’ lawyer refused to address the allegations on the tapes themselves, saying the “circumstances dictate” he must refrain from speaking of them.

Reaction to the taped confession has been swift – 7th Heaven reruns have already been taken off the air by multiple networks, Collins was fired from the film Ted 2 and resigned his position with the Screen Actors Guild. ABC announced yesterday his appearance on the fourth season of Scandal will not be aired. The New York Police Department confirmed they have an open investigation into the allegations, rooting back to a complaint made in 2012. So far no charges have been laid. ~Kelly Townsend

Of course, this ‘whole’ story needs to come out, but if the wife knew he molested girls and sat on that information? She should be charged as an accessory. The public and other children need to be protected. What’s wrong with her? These wives who ‘stand by their man,’ for convenience sake make me sick. It needs to stop.
I hope his victims get help and justice.

I’m starting to wonder if she fabricated the whole thing to get money. Maybe it’s not a case of a woman standing by her man, but of a woman throwing her man under the bus.
