Looks like Agent Ethan Hunt has competition. The graphic thriller The Devil Inside debuted in the top spot this weekend, raking in $35.5 million (all figures U.S.), but received only 2.2 stars out of five from tribute.ca visitors. That means the action flick Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, starring Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner, was pushed from first to second place at the box office with $20.5 million and 4.2 stars, still impressive considering it’s been in theaters for four weeks. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows came in third with $14.1 million and 4.2 stars. Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are still holding on tight to their spot in fourth with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, drawing $11.3 million and a 4.2 star rating. Squeaking by in fifth place is Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, down two spots, with $9.5 million, almost half its earnings from last weekend, although it’s still a hit with tribute.ca viewers who give it 4.3 stars. That rounds up this weekend’s top five films at the box office.
