Jay-Z’s concert appearance at the Ed Sullivan Theater has been cancelled, according to The New York Post. The 43-year-old rapper had planned a concert on top of the Midtown marquee for July 8th, which later would have aired on Late Show with David Letterman, but the plug was abruptly pulled. A police source told paper, “The mayor’s office approved it, and then just like that, it got denied.” Representatives for Jay-Z, David Letterman, the city and the NYPD were supposed to meet Tuesday to negotiate details of the concert, but it was cancelled with no specific reason stated. The police source speculated: “It’s because of the holiday weekend. They were concerned about fireworks and terrorism.” The Post managed to get details about the planned performance in advance. Without giving much detail, it is described as possibly “creating a logistical nightmare for cops given the hordes of fans such an event would draw.” ~Alfonso Espina

Could be a smart move. Or helps instill fear in the masses. Here in Victoria we had our Canada Day bomb scare and people were arrested in a Boston style bombing attempt (rusty nails and bolts in a pressure cooker). We will still continue with our lives and the RCMP will always get their man (or man and woman in this case)! No mater what people think about the bad things some bad egg cops do, this is a situation that prevented many many deaths!
