Joan Rivers’ doctor took selfie during operation

By Tribute on September 18, 2014 | 11 Comments

gwenkorovinfacebook1Joan Rivers’ personal doctor allegedly took a selfie during the fatal throat operation, according to a report from CNN. An anonymous source connected to the investigation said the doctor, who was not identified in the report, took the selfie while Joan was in the room under general anesthetic. The comedienne was at Yorkville Endoscopy center, where gastroenterologist Dr. Lawrence Cohen performed a scheduled endoscopy to help diagnose the cause of a sore throat. When the endoscopy was completed, a biopsy was performed by the other doctor without Joan’s consent, according to a source to CNN.

TMZ reports that Dr. Gwen Korovin, pictured here in a Facebook photo, was the doctor who was not named. The site revealed Korovin, who has treated some of  the biggest celebrities in the world, was not authorized to practice medicine at the center. Investigators believe Joan’s vocal cords began to swell during biopsy, cutting off the flow of oxygen, which caused her to have a heart attack. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she passed away. Neither doctor has been accused of wrongdoing by investigators and the clinic refuses to respond to the allegations due to federal privacy law.

Wow. So unprofessional. I can’t understand why respected, intelligent professionals such as doctors get star struck. I wouldn’t even walk across the street to meet one.

That is quite a nasty revelation. This doctor should be repremanded by losing their licence to practice. For shame.

It is unprofessional. I agree with Rod!! Society has given more status to Celebrities and less into other aspects of there own lives. They are human beings not gods. Stop worshiping them we each have our own unique identity?. Have they ever spoke to any of us. sent a e-mail just to ask you how you are or to meet you for coffee. I wouldn’t give them the time of day. Do you think that they give you the time of day????.

ok, hang on a second here… “allegedly” took a selfie. ALLEDGEDLY – so that means this story could be totally bogus, that this ‘respected’ news blog could not be sued because they did not state that definitely it happened. In the meantime, they are damaging the reputations of the medical professionals involved.
Well, good for you. Hope you’re proud of yourselves.

    Renee A, you’re an idiot.

If I was the doctor, I would take a selfie of my balls in Joan Rivers face. Right on her chin.

It’s difficult to tell who is being truthful here. Bottom line: a person lost their life. This is not a funny issue.

If the female Doc was not licensed to practise in that hospital – she is big do-do……..How did she get
    access to this situation anyway….
Hasn’t anyone heard of a traciotomy??? Geeesh.
Everyone for themselves – what were they thinking????
Why were they not professional enough to open her air
ways and prevent her having a heart attack…….the
most inexperienced paramedic knows how to open ones
airways. It’s a shame – we’ve lost one of the best
comedians in the business. A loss everyone will remember.
