Justin Bieber – professional prankster?

By Alexandra Heilbron on October 7, 2010 | 9 Comments

According to reports, MTV is planning to bring back Punk’d — the hidden camera show in which celebrities get pranked — and they’re currently in negotiations with Justin Bieber to sign on as host of the new version. The show’s creators — Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg — will executive produce the new run. Justin, who earns $300,000 for every concert he gives, is making a name for himself as a prankster. He recently panicked fellow pop star Akon by pretending to be his illegitimate son in a phone call. Akon’s manager Scooter explained: “He was like, ‘Daddy, why don’t you love me?’ It really scared the s**t out of Akon!” When asked by a fan about his antics and whether he really makes prank calls, Justin answered via twitter: “R u Kidding of course I do!! I prank everyone!! No 1 is safe :).” Who would you like to see ‘punked’ by Justin?

I’m sure this will get a lot of viewers (given the Bieb’s popularity!) but Ashton was pretty good on the “original” Punk’d…

This is going to be amazing — he’ll be way better as a host than Ashton! I hope he punks Miley Cyrus!

Hah, that would be great! Maybe the Jonas Bros. too…..

This is going to suck, another show ruined. I think Justin should go quietly away. Ashton was the best for this show.

I’m willing to give this new show a chance, but I think it will probably appeal more to the 14-25 age group.

If i was a celebrity, getting embarrassed by another adult can be taken as a prank in good fun. Getting pranked by a kid would just be plain annoying.

This might be a really cute show. This kid is naturally charming and his reaction when he’s made to look silly is pretty funny.
