Kara DioGuardi announces marriage plans

American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi announced during an appearance as co-host on Live With Regis and Kelly this week that she’s engaged to be married. She met her fiancé, contractor Mike McDuddy, when he built a house next to hers in Maine and she went over to complain that he was building it too close to hers. McDuddy kept a souvenir from the bonfire he built for her shortly after they met — a piece of ember from the fire that he’s since had framed. He asked her to marry him last December. DioGuardi, who is also a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and record producer, says the wedding is in “less than two weeks,” but didn’t specify a date or place.
