Madonna cancels Christmas

MadonnaMadonna has cancelled Christmas at her home and refuses to let her three children celebrate, according to her husband Guy Ritchie. Ritchie told BANG Showbiz that Madonna, who follows the Kabbalah faith, banned the event for her 11-year-old daughter Lourdes, seven-year-old son Rocco and their two-year-old adopted son David Banda because she only celebrates Jewish holy days. “We cancelled Christmas two years ago in our household,” Ritchie explained. “Once we cancelled it we stopped all the presents, and once we stopped all the presents we started enjoying ourselves more.”

You know, she is filthy rich, so guaranteed her kids have everything anyways as far as gifts are concerned. But I believe in Christmas, I don’t care what anyone says!! I mean, yes, Christmas is about spending time with family and friends, to appreciate all we have, good food, sparkling decorations and twinkling lights, getting the kids together and decorating the tree. But I have to tell you, when that tree goes up..and I plug it in, my kids faces light up and it just wouldn’t be Christmas without it! Going on the internet on Christmas Eve to track Santa, baking, leaving plates of goodies out for Santa and his reindeer…all this stuff should be part of a kids life…it is exciting!! Then again on Christmas morning, when their eyes light up and they keep smiling over and over with each gift they open….priceless! Absolutely priceless! As long as we teach our children the TRUE meaning of Christmas, what is wrong with all the extra stuff that makes their eyes light up and fills our homes with the laughter of children???

By the headline I really really thought she totally cancelled XMAS. I guess she isn’t that big.

Just wantd to re-emphasize that Fart if you love Celine is the best name I have ever seen for any post.
I wonder if Celine does XMAS might be too much for her husband aka surrogate Grandfather.

    Hmmmmm….what’s the word for her……………SCROOGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Gina • November 23, 2007 @ 1:01 AM

    I agree with Nancy.
I know a lot of non-Christians that still celebrate Santa on December 25 even though it is not their custom. Who would deprive their kids of that childhood fantasy and all the wonderful things that go along with the tradition? As for the Jewish thing and eliminating the presents, that’s a load of crap! During Hanukkah, which is 8 or 9 days long, the kids get a gift every night. So big deal, they got rid of the Christmas gifts and started enjoying themselves with all their Hanukkah gifts

…I think the word for scrooge is scrooge.

Pretty sure CHRISTmas is meant for celebrating the birth of Jesus, not for consumerism’s sake only.

All of you who celebrate it without belief in Jesus should be ashamed. Call it the holidays, but don’t call it Christmas if you’re not willing to let it live up to its name.

  15. Gina • November 23, 2007 @ 9:25 AM

    Ashley,

The only one here that said anything about celebrating the holidays was me. I do believe that my comment referred to the many non-Christians that I know who celebrate Santa Claus on Dec 25, which has nothing at all to do with the true meaning of Christmas. Where in your Bible does it say that you need to find Christ through Santa. These people make the effort to adapt to North American culture so their kids dont feel left out in school and you put them down, shame on you for being so closed minded. Good for you for being such a good Christian by judging others ts in the name of Christ.

LOL. Ashley is just the perfect samaritan isn’t she?? I mean, she is the fur guru, and now she sides with ‘the grinch’!!!

  17. Poppa John • November 23, 2007 @ 9:11 PM

She even looks like the grinch in that striped hat. Funny how she claims she’s so “Italian”, yet abandons her Christian Heritage just to be hollywood trendy. What a joke.

“She even looks like the grinch in that striped hat.”

Not the Grinch, Poppa John — the McDonaldland Hamburglar.

  21. Nancy • November 25, 2007 @ 12:26 AM

Yeah, except she is not stealing hamburgers, she has teamed up with the grinch and Ashley to steal Christmas!!!!!
