Mean Girls debuts in No. 1 spot at weekend box office

Mean Girls debuts on top at weekend box officeTwo new movies debuted in the top five at the weekend box office.

Mean Girls starring Angourie Rice as Cady Heron (the role Lindsay Lohan originated), debuted in the No. 1 spot at the weekend box office with earnings of $28 million. Click here to read our review.

The Beekeeper starring Jason Statham debuted in second, taking in $16.8 million in its opening weekend.

Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet dropped from the top spot to third place this weekend, earning an additional $8.4 million for a five-week total of $176.2 million. Click here to read our review.

Anyone But You starring Sydney Sweeney crept back up a spot from its fifth place finish last weekend to fourth, with an extra $6.9 million for a four-week total of $55.2 million.

Rounding out the top five was the animated film Migration, which earned another $6.2 million for a four-week total of $85.8 million.
