Michael Cera holding up Arrested Development movie

By Alexandra Heilbron on December 26, 2008 | 10 Comments

Michael CeraIt seems achieving A-List status with hits like Juno and Superbad has caused Michael Cera to forget his roots. The Canadian cutie, who got his big break on the well-loved but short-lived comedy Arrested Development, is reportedly holding out on reprising his role as George Michael Bluth in a big screen version of the television show. The rest of the cast members, including Jason Bateman and producer Ron Howard, are excited about the project, but creator Mitch Hurwitz suggests they’re still waiting on Cera. “I don’t want to talk about who is holding out right now because we might still work that out and I don’t want to pressure anyone through the press,” Hurwitz told fancast.com. “Although I will say that Will Arnett is gung-ho, so there’s a big clue!”

Well, I personally hope Cera jumps on board, this is one of the best t.v. series ever and I would welcome a big screen version.

I’ve noticed something about Tribute, that they always sensationalize everything. Could be holding out for money, could be he didn’t like the script, could be a scheduling conflict, could be just doesn’t want to do it. But Tribute’s spin is that he’s too good for this flick, he’s forgotten his roots? WTF? No one knows what’s going on, but their spin is that he’s an asshole. Okay then.

If they ever make a movie on the life of Bill Gates, Michael Cera would be a great choice for the role

that’s the thing about gossip – it’s supposed to be sensationalized. they’d call it ‘boring facts’ otherwise.

and he is a canadian cutie.

I don’t think its Tribute that is sensationalizing this, as nearly every other source is worded in a similar manner. He’s willing to play the George Michael character in every movie (that’s the only character-type he can play) except in AD where it started and the only reason he even got a shot. And in Sept. he said something like if a movie is being made I don’t know about it, and if I was really a fan I wouldn’t want a movie anyway seeing as the 3 seasons or on DVD. If that’s not pompous I don’t know what it.
