Pat Sajak admits to boozing on game show

What did Pat Sajak and Vanna White do on their two hour lunch break in between tapings of Wheel of Fortune? Drink! It was bottoms up for the game show host who confessed in a recent interview with reporter Dan Le Batard that he would drink “two, three, or six” margaritas at a Mexican restaurant around the corner from NBC Studios alongside White, his alphabet unveiling co-host back in the 80’s. They would then head back to the studio and continue filming the show completely wasted. Sajak even admitted to getting so drunk sometimes that he and White wouldn’t be able to comprehend the alphabet — which would have been problematic considering contestants are competing to solve word puzzles. Sajak also added that it has been a very long time since the two have gotten together for drinks, likely for the better. The game show was first aired in 1975 (Sajak started hosting in 1981) and was so wildly popular that in 2008, almost two decades after being pulled off the air, it was named the “top-rated syndicated series” by TV Guide.
