Judy Garland – Valley of the Dolls

Although Judy Garland is a beloved figure for her career-defining performance in The Wizard of Oz, the talented actress dealt with her fair share of demons throughout her career. One such demon was substance abuse, which followed her throughout her career. Her substance abuse problems reached new levels during production of Valley of the Dolls. It reached the point where Garland would show up on set completely inebriated and unable to work, which necessitated her departure from the film. Actress Susan Hayward would eventually replace her. Tragically, Judy Garland would pass away two years later at the young age of 47.
