Channing Tatum’s Gambit Solo Film

Of all of Fox's planned Marvel films prior to Disney’s purchase of the studio and all its properties, Channing Tatum’s solo vehicle of the mutant anti-hero Gambit was seemingly a project that wouldn’t die. The character had previously been portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine (pictured), but now would be receiving the solo treatment with Tatum in the role. The film found a number of interesting directors attached to the project while it languished in development, including Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt, Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman, and finally Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski. The film's status has been up in the air following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
