Tomorrowland (2015)

Director Brad Bird was a hot commodity following his live-action directorial debut with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. So when he signed on to direct Disney's Tomorrowland, which he would co-write with Damon Lindelof, there were high expectations for this big-budget sci-fi adventure. Those expectations were only heightened when George Clooney was cast. The end product was a mixed bag that became a box office flop, but not without its bright spots. Clooney and Britt Robertson made compelling leads, but its conventions as a tentpole film made a film rife with imagination utterly forgettable. Simply put, the film needed a bigger focus on delivering its themes in a less than blunt manner in order for it to succeed.
