Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) – Rebooting the Terminator

Director James Cameron has had a long and prolific career, and while a majority of his films are tightly written projects, there are times where he's dropped the ball. One such sequence is this deleted scene from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The scene essentially explains how the T-800 can learn empathy through its neural net processor, a.k.a. learning computer. When John suggests that they reset the switch after it was turned off, Sarah is given the opportunity to destroy the T-800's CPU, but is convinced by John not to. This scene fundamentally changes how believable it is that the T-800 learns empathy, which becomes a key development at the climax, while simultaneously being a technical achievement in both practical and special effects.
