Green Book (2018)

As one of the more recent films in this gallery, Green Book is an interesting case, as the film was written by the son of Tony "Lip" Vallelonga (the character played by Viggo Mortensen), which would give credence to the film's depiction of events. However, the film was also subject to much scrutiny, as the family of Dr. Donald Shirley (played by Mahershala Ali) disputed the film's portrayal of the friendship between the two men. While many of the events depicted likely occurred, the way in which they were viewed by the Vallelonga family is also likely only half of the truth.
