The Imitation Game (2014)

Although this 2014 biopic is based upon the Andrew Hodges biography, the Morten Tyldum film does take a few creative liberties with its depiction of the famous mathematician. While it was noted that Alan Turing was an eccentric man, his portrayal by Benedict Cumberbatch as being humorless and possibly on the spectrum is at best an exaggeration of how he is described in the biography. One other notable change is how the film shows Turing building his machine all by himself, when in fact he collaborated with mathematician Gordon Welchman (absent in the film) on an improved design of a machine originally developed by Polish cryptanalysts.
