Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling was fired from The Lovely Bones because he decided his character, Jack Salmon, would be better suited weighing in at 210 pounds. So Gosling went ahead and gained the weight, even going so far as drinking melted ice cream when he was thirsty, but it was all for nothing. The filmmakers didn’t appreciate Gosling’s bold take on the character and replaced him with Mark Wahlberg. So the risk didn’t pay off, and as Gosling put it, he ended up “fat and unemployed.” Ouch.
