Shirley Temple

Child star Shirley Temple delighted and captured the hearts of audiences everywhere with her curly locks and dimples, as the top star at the box office four years in a row (1935 to 1938). As she hit puberty, her popularity took a dive and by 21, she made her last movie appearance. Temple officially retired in 1950 and turned her attention to politics. She went on to become an American diplomat and served as the United States ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia.
