Christian Bale – The Flowers of War (2012)

One of the more under-the-radar choices for Hollywood star Christian Bale was his World War II flick, The Flowers of War. Based on the Geling Yan novel, the film finds Bale playing an American during Japan’s invasion of Nanking China in 1937, where he’s forced to pose as a priest while taking refuge in a church with a group of women. Bale is no stranger to taking on smaller scale/lower profile projects in his career, but with The Flowers of War he also had the opportunity to work with acclaimed Chinese director Yimou Zhang.
