The late Bill Paxton had a solid career working mostly as a character actor, but in 2002 he got to ply his trade behind the camera and displayed an eye for horror with the crime thriller Frailty. Praised for Paxton’s restrained, less-is-more approach, the film elicited positive reviews from critics and was received well by audiences. Paxton would follow it up with the more family friendly, but equally well-liked The Greatest Game Ever Played. Since then Paxton only directed a short titled Tattoo in 2011. He tragically passed away on February 25, 2017, from complications following heart surgery.
