Rooney Mara – Lisbeth Salander, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

A mere two years after Noomi Rapace made a name for herself as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish film adaptations of the Millennium trilogy, Hollywood saw fit to make their own adaptation of the books. It says something of Rapace’s performance that fans campaigned for her to take on the role once again in the Hollywood remake. Sony and director David Fincher eventually went in a different direction, casting Rooney Mara in the role. She made it her own and delivered an Oscar-nominated performance.
