Looper

Starring seasoned action veteran Bruce Willis and 500 Days of Summer’s Joseph Gordon Levitt in what Levitt claims to be his most transformative role to date, director Rian Johnson’s Looper certainly throws us for a loop. Taking place in 2072, we learn that the mob has designed a new system for disposing of its undesirables: they send you 30 years into the past where an assassin awaits your arrival. Problems arise when Joe (Gordon-Levitt) finds out the Mob wants Joe’s future self, played by Willis, dead—and they want Joe to do the job in order to ‘close the loop.’ After working on Brick in 2005 and The Brothers Bloom in 2008, Looper is the third time that Johnson and Gordon-Levitt and have teamed up—and their impeccable chemistry is every bit apparent in the exhilarating mix of action and drama that fuels this film.
