Meryl Streep and Emma Thompson

The relationship between this Oscar-winning pair of ladies is divine. Their ability to poke fun at each other while simultaneously exhibiting admiration and respect is the embodiment of friendship. Their bond was solidified when they locked lips in the 2003 mini-series Angels in America, for which Meryl won a Best Actress Emmy. In her acceptance speech, Meryl praised each of her fellow nominees. But when it came time to address Emma, who was also nominated for Angels, she had this to stay: "The only one in the group is Emma Thompson, who will hold a grudge for the rest of her life. But who cares?" Naturally, the crowd burst into laughter. More recently, when Meryl was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award in 2014 for August: Osage County and Emma was snubbed for Saving Mr. Banks, Meryl came forward and said, "I was really shocked. I wrote her a long, heartfelt email about how bad I felt. She wrote back and just said, 'Good.'" This is the kind of friendship we appreciate.
