Dren (Splice) – 2009

When scientists Elsa (Sarah Polley) and Clive (Adrien Brody) created Dren (Delphine Chanéac), they didn't anticipate her (later he) to be a violent, malevolent force. But by the end of Splice, they're forced to accept their creature's spiteful tendencies. Dren is a four-fingered being equipped with a tail and webbed feet. For much of the film, she omits sounds one may expect from a bird. At the end of the sci-fi/horror picture, though, she demonstrates her brilliance through language. She's evil, manipulative and ruthless, and not something one would want to encounter in a lab.
