Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)

The remarkable success of Home Alone unsurprisingly spawned a just-as-festive sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. As the title suggests, Chris Columbus' 1992 film follows young Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) as he once again finds himself separated from his family over the holidays. This time he ends up in bustling New York City, and again is pitted against The Wet Bandits (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern). The same brand of comedy is employed as Kevin outsmarts (and meticulously scrapes, sears and scars) the burglars. The cast is rounded out by a sassy concierge (Tim Curry) and kindhearted homeless woman (Brenda Fricker) with a penchant for pigeons. Whoever said sequels are useless hasn't seen this follow up.
