What may be the loosest remake of a film on this list, Casino Royale shares many of its story elements and character names with the 1967 James Bond spoof film of the same name; though, technically, it's actually an adaptation of Sir Ian Fleming's very first James Bond novel. Casino Royale may just be the finest Bond outing in the history of the franchise, and cemented Daniel Craig as one of the most impressive actors to ever take on the mantle of 007. Dark, clever and full of action, sex and all of the tropes one comes to expect from a Bond film, there are few films that are both a remake and a reboot and are still this damn good.
