Judith Dench was born December 9, 1934. Now in her mid-eighties, the English actress made her professional debut in 1957 with the Old Vic Company and her TV debut in 1959 with the starring role on the BBC TV series Hilda Lessways. Although she’s been well known to movie audiences for decades, she may be best known for her role as M in GoldenEye (1995), a role she continued to play in James Bond films until Spectre (2015). She’s also known for her role as Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love (1998), for which she won an Academy Award. Next up, she’ll play Old Deuteronomy in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Cats, directed by Tom Hooper.
