Rookie driver Jimmy Bly (Kip Pardue) gets help from former driver Joe Tanto (Sylvester Stallone) because Carl Henry (Burt Reynolds), Jimmy’s team owner, feels he’s becoming more prone to driving errors. Carl persuades Joe to mentor Jimmy. To drive Jimmy back to the top of the racing world, Joe must first deal with the emotional scars left over from a tragic racing accident that nearly took his life.
