Bad Boys II (2003)

Michael Bay films are an acquired taste for most, as they typically follow a certain formula and contain a bevy of the director’s trademarks. His directorial style is also one that audiences either love or hate and his 2003 sequel Bad Boys II is often viewed as one of the more divisive film of his career. The film is peak Michael Bay, and showcases his many strengths and weaknesses in excess. It’s precisely because of that excess that the film both works and doesn’t work, depending on who watches it. Bad Boys II is a carnival of chaos, but it’s never boring and because of that, it’s quite the mesmerizing ride.
