Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams – The Notebook

Apparently, love does take work. According to director Nick Cassavetes, the stars of his revered romance The Notebook (2004) turned up the heat while filming...but not in the way he had hoped. At least not initially. During a VH1 interview to celebrate the film's 10th anniversary, Nick said Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams refused to see eye-to-eye. Ryan even pulled Nick aside during one take and demanded another actress read off camera for him. When Nick and the producer called a meeting with the two stars, their friction hit a boiling point and a screaming match broke out. Thankfully, their animosity melted after the furious encounter and they were able to complete the project. But as Nick said, "it wasn't smooth sailing." However, the duo ended up dating for three years after the cameras stopped rolling, so what does that say about "smooth sailing?"
