Public Enemies (2009)

The biggest fault with this film was that it was perhaps mishandled in trying to be sold as a big summer blockbuster epic involving gangsters. In trying to compete with the likes of Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen amongst others, Michael Mann's Public Enemies just felt odd by comparison. Despite solid performances by Depp as infamous bank robber John Dillinger and Christian Bale's federal agent Melvin Purvis, the film still wound up being a box office disappointment thanks to its hefty $100 million budget. Because of that, this film is often forgotten, despite being a solid film on the whole.
