Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Another existential entry in the genre, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a collaboration between the always-imaginative Michel Gondry and the always-eccentric Charlie Kaufman. A philosophical meditation on love, loss and memory, the film follows a man (Jim Carrey) who, upon discovering that his ex-girlfriend (Kate Winslet) has undergone a procedure to have him removed from her memory, seeks to erase her as well. The process leads to a surreal trip through his subconscious, where he discovers that even if you erase your past it might come back to haunt you.
