Ricky Gervais asked to host Golden Globes again

Despite all the controversy — or maybe because of it, and the ratings the Golden Globes received — Ricky Gervais has been asked by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to host again next year. A rep for the HFPA told press, “We loved the show… it was among the best we’ve ever had and we were pleased.” However, Ricky wrote in his “Globes Diary” for Heat magazine that he’s not sure he’ll accept: “I did exactly what I went to do. Improve on last year’s and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks. The weird thing is the question is always, ‘Did Ricky go too far?’ And the answer is always, ‘No.’ I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it.” He added, “The ratings went up again, and the organizers asked me to consider a third year. I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get more press for them, that’s for sure.”

There is so much time before the next Golden Globes, that there is plenty of time for the celebrities to build a slew of events and situations for Ricky to roast them over again. If the ‘act’ builds itself, I’m sure he’ll consent to be the host again.

I hope you’re right, he really breathed life into the Globes. They should ask him to do the Oscars next year, they’d probably get the highest ratings they’ve ever had.
