American IdolDuring advance taping for FOX’s Idol Gives Back special on Sunday, host Ryan Seacrest, pictured here with American Idol judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, handed over his paycheck for the evening. A source close to Seacrest told People.com that he wanted to show fans he was serious about the cause, saying, “When he and Simon went to Africa last year and saw the children, it was really life-altering for him. Very nice of Ryan to do that. The African government will never stand up and help their own people though…not as long as the rest of the world does it for them. THIS IS MY OPINION! I DID NOT DIRECT IT AT ANY OF YOU SO FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT AGREE WITH WHAT I HAVE WRIITEN…..WRITE YOUR OWN OPINION AND DO NOT DIRECT IT AT ME!!!

Nancy, to post your opinion in a public forum is to be open to criticism on it. If you are looking to keep judgement from it, keep it private. That being said, I agree with you.

Oh, I am open to criticism on my posts. Sorry if I phrased that wrong. I just don’t approve of people judging ME because of my comments.

I hear ya Nancy, challenging someone’s post is fine, but you get quite assaulted by them sometimes.
Anyway, I think it was great of Ryan to do that, and I agree that the African government won’t do anything to help their own. In fact, I imagine most of the money donated that night, if not all, will end up in the hands of corrupt African government and will not end up where it was intended. The government will probably end up using the money to buy more weapons which they will maim and kill their own people. All that money was donated with love, care and concern in mind, and unfortunately it just may end up hurting the people it was meant to help.
Just my opinion, if you disagree, that’s fine, say so, but keep it civil.

Nancy, I half agree with you.
Tributegirl, you are wrong because the money from idol gives back goes to charity and those charities don’t go to the African Government. It goes to actual individuals and society, building schools, hospitals, etc. They don’t just hand the money over to the Gov. However if by some twisted fate, it does, then your opionion would probably be true.
