During an interview on the TV show Australian Story, Bob Irwin, father of the late Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin, admitted his son saved him from comitting suicide in 2000. Bob told how when his wife (Steve’s mother) died in a car accident, he was overcome with grief and packed up his truck to head to a “special spot,” planning to end his own life. On the way there, he received a call from Steve on his cell phone. “He said, ‘I know what you’re going to do’, and I didn’t really have an answer for that and then he said, ‘Well, wait there, I’ll come with you because we both might as well go,'” Bob said. “And I said, ‘You can’t do that’ because he had [daughter] Bindi at that stage and he said, ‘Well, if you’re going to do it, then I’m coming.’ I just felt at the time I just couldn’t let him do it and he knew that.” Bob is now married to second wife Judy.
Well, it’s a good thing that Bob is married to his 2nd wife Judy….because he probably would have done away with himself after Steve died!!
Hope Judy is going to outlive him. He’s got those little grandchildren to live for, how could he even consider doing that to them?
Are you aware that he named his daughter Bindi after his dead dog? Yeah, take that with ya to the registry. It’s a good thing they didn’t have a dog named “Red Balls”, because that would really be something!!!!LOL!!
I think it’s a cute name. It’s a common name in Australia. And besides, he really loved his dog.
KRIKEY!!!
he named bindi after his crocodile her middle name sue is named after the dog
