Screenwriter survives being hit by subway

Will Rokos, 57, who received an Academy Award nomination for his screenplay Monster’s Ball, was hit in the head by a subway train in New York on Saturday. According to New York police, Rokos was standing on the subway platform and leaned over to see if the train was coming. It suddenly entered the station, ploughing into his head. He was sent flying backwards onto the platform and was semi-conscious when police arrived. The driver of the train saw Rokos and threw on the brakes, but wasn’t able to stop in time. Rokos, who lives in Manhattan with his wife, was in critical but stable condition at Bellevue Hospital yesterday.
