The Marvels soars to the top of the weekend box office

The Marvels posterThe Marvels starring Brie Larson, a sequel to the 2019 film Captain Marvel, debuted at the top of the weekend box office with $47 million.

Five Nights at Freddy’s starring Josh Hutcherson dropped from first place to second in its third weekend, taking in an extra $9 million for a haul of $127.2 million.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour dropped a spot to third, earning an additional $5.9 million for a five-week total of $172.5 million.

Priscilla, a biopic about Priscilla Presley starring Cailee Spaeny in the title role, held onto fourth place for the second weekend in a row, taking in an extra $4.8 million for a two-week total of $12.7 million. Click here to read our review.

Rounding out the top five was Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo Di Caprio, earning an additional $4.7 million for a three-week total of $59.9 million.

    “Soars to the top” is an odd turn of phrase. It is the lowest grossing Marvel movie in 15 years… LOL
