Tim McGraw smacks down fan at concert

By Alexandra Heilbron on June 26, 2008 | 45 Comments

Tim McGraw in concertDuring a concert on Wednesday night, Tim McGraw proved he’s not just talented, good looking and buff — he showed his chivalrous side. After witnessing a man hit a woman in the audience, he called for security, but didn’t wait for them to arrive before taking action. Tim’s rep released the following statement: “While Tim was performing at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, Washington last night, he watched a man rush to the front of the stage. This overly aggressive fan attacked a female fan and Tim witnessed this incident. Tim called for security, but when they could not respond quick enough Tim and several crew members removed the fan from the audience where he was then turned over to the local authorities.” In the video posted online, McGraw points and yells, “Get rid of this guy!” Then he walks over, kneels down on the stage, grabs the sizeable guy by the shirt and pulls him up on stage. He then gives the guy a shove and when the guy lunges back towards McGraw, Tim pulls back his fist to punch the guy, but the security team jumps in between them and drags the man off stage.

  4. Bubbles • June 26, 2008 @ 2:28 PM

Tim McGraw, mild mannered country singer by day, unstoppable crime fighter by night.

I wonder what Timberflake would have done?

  6. Just Call Me Nate • June 27, 2008 @ 1:01 AM

That brawl had to be more entertaining than McGraw’s dunder-headed songs.

  7. petey66 • June 27, 2008 @ 8:00 AM

Tim McGraw, you are a true man among men.

  8. Diana Bastarache • June 27, 2008 @ 8:26 AM

This is why we have all come to love this man, Chivalry is not gone as I thought. He should do a remake of Patrick Swayzy Road House.

  9. Dogmeat • June 27, 2008 @ 8:36 AM

It takes a REAL MAN to defend a woman!!! It pleases me to see that there are some Real Man left in this world!!
May all the blessings you give others be in turn returned to you!

  16. Tammy • June 27, 2008 @ 11:48 AM

Thank you Tim! Faith has one of the best! You have shown great respect for women and we can only hope that “waste of skin” wakes up, gets help and learns how to treat another human being with the respect every person is entitled to.

    God Bless Us All!

  17. Jessica Laskowski • June 27, 2008 @ 12:49 PM

I have even more respect for you Tim!

  18. Wh33t • June 27, 2008 @ 12:49 PM

Holy hell, I like Tim now.

  19. sue53 • June 27, 2008 @ 1:43 PM

    Tim
I was one of those women once and wished I had a hero like you to help me .

From the bottom of my heart thank you for doing that.

    Sue

  20. Dan • June 27, 2008 @ 2:52 PM

    he is the new superman!!

  21. STEVE-O • June 27, 2008 @ 3:08 PM

Country music is so lame…everything little twang and yee-haw all sounds the same.
But I guess it is music for the redneck, inbred, cross eyed ‘Mericans out there. And the Canadians who think they are from ‘The South’.

  22. Bob • June 27, 2008 @ 3:12 PM

Faith should be proud of her man, keep it up Tim.

  23. Bam • June 27, 2008 @ 3:13 PM

    Tim McCrackin’ saved someone?

Obviously it was staged to make you people gush.

  24. Bob • June 27, 2008 @ 3:13 PM

For Steve-O, this is not about country music, it is about a good deed, if you don’t have anything nice to say, just SHUT UP.

  25. STEVE-O • June 27, 2008 @ 3:18 PM

Good deed? Whatever. A multimillionaire who did something just to promote himself even further by showboating for the crowd. That is all he did, pretty cut and dry for anyone with half a brain. Bob…I can say whatever I want.

  26. Chris • June 27, 2008 @ 4:52 PM

Ok I watched this what the hell are you people talking about OOOh he a hero junk. First place is the guy looked loaded and thought he was getting on stage if he had pulled hard QuickDraw would have got pulled right off the stage it took two to help him up even they sure didn’t yank him up.McGraw also pushed him from behind (the back)and didn’t act tough until his guards where well around him. Protect a woman of curse you should protect any person man or woman whom is being assaulted but never forget if a woman acts like a man she maybe should get treated like one.

  27. tammy • June 27, 2008 @ 5:34 PM

Wow Chris I think YOU might be loaded…alot of what you said didn’t make any sense…and Steve-o I think you and nancy or tributegirl belong together you guys like to put people down…

  28. Slippery Pete • June 27, 2008 @ 6:08 PM

I wish Garth Brooks would stop wearing that stupid hat of his.

  29. STEVE-O • June 27, 2008 @ 6:15 PM

Hey Tammy…I am always up for meeting new people and Nancy is a pretty name. But Tim McGraw is a poser and you just can’t argue against that. Just like how pictures of him and his talentless wife are always posted on TMZ, well it also stands for Tim.McGraw.Zombies…you know people that blindly follow around manufactured celebrity. Chris…THANK YOU…I get what you are saying even if it does sound a little like drunkenese. Mr. Red, White, and Blue was acting like he was 18…only tough when his buddies (security) were hanging around him.

  30. tributegirl • June 27, 2008 @ 6:31 PM

STEVE-O, Chris, I respect your opinions, but I have to disagree. I’m not a fan of Tim or Faith, but I think what he did was very impressive. If I was in that woman’s shoes, I’d have been terrified if no one helped, and would have been totally grateful to whoever did help, whether it was the singer, or someone in the audience.

  31. Poppa John's in Exile • June 27, 2008 @ 9:49 PM

    Diana Bastarache:

I now know who to blame for all of these tacky ridiculous re-makes of perfectly good movies- People like YOU.
I cannot grasp what it is that makes people say, “Wow, that was a great movie!, Now if I can just watch it again with so and so playing this part and blah blah blah….
    No Originality these days….

  32. george p • June 28, 2008 @ 1:52 AM

say it wasn’t a set up.i hate women beaters too.good show tim. george pasher, toronto.

  33. joe p • June 30, 2008 @ 6:02 AM

Yes you can join my team of superhereos anytime.

  34. K • June 30, 2008 @ 4:36 PM

    Good for you!

  35. Anonymous • July 1, 2008 @ 2:01 AM

wow, this is great, he wants to screw the guy over, thats exactly what he did, good going! i’m surprised he didnt pull out a colt and gun the bastard down 😛

  36. E • July 1, 2008 @ 8:32 PM

I say all of you are acting very childish. Bashing each other has nothing to do with what McGraw did so I don’t see why you’re bickering like five-year-olds. Unless you actually are. But I highly doubt that, so grow up.

Anyway, I think the description at the top slightly exaggerated his efforts. Whatever.

  37. Gorm • July 1, 2008 @ 9:43 PM

Tammy is the most sensible person on here.

  38. The future smells like rancid fish. • July 1, 2008 @ 9:48 PM

    Agreed — Tammy is adorable.

  39. Feldman • July 2, 2008 @ 3:12 AM

What’s your problem?! Obviously you’re very unhappy or you wouldn’t have to pick on others to make yourself feel important.

  40. Jo-Anne • July 2, 2008 @ 8:01 AM

    well done, Tammy
I agree men shouldn’t be hitting women, for that matter no one should be hitting anyone, knocking their teeth out or threatening with any of that pathetic “big tough guy” talk…

you have as much right as anyone to give your opinion – so carry on

I agree Tim did a good thing, simple as that, sticking to the topic….

  41. STEVE-O • July 2, 2008 @ 10:45 AM

I am the most sensible person here.

    Nyah Nyah!

  42. Nancy • July 2, 2008 @ 6:18 PM

I have as much right as anyone to give my opinion, too. So, I’ll carry on by saying that Tim did a nice thing but I think he should have waited for the bouncers as it is their job and he needs to think of his wife and girls and doesn’t really need to be caught up in a lawsuit at this point.

  43. tributegirl • July 2, 2008 @ 7:13 PM

Yeah, but he didn’t know what this guy was going to do, so he grabbed him & held on until the bouncers got there. If he hadn’t, the guy could have done anything, jumped up on stage & beat people, or he could have beaten that woman or anyone else in the audience. I really like what Tim did, and I love how he calmly went right on with the show.

  44. sarah • July 3, 2008 @ 8:58 PM

Tim is just trying to protect his fan i dont think he tryed to hurt the guy. He put to much anger out on the guy, i think he did not mean to do that he prouble just wanted to say DONT EVER PUSH A GIRL AGAIN!!!!!! I bet right he is so so so sorry about trying to hurt him. I think Tim McGraw is thinking that right this mintue!!!!!! (:
