A-List movie star Tom Hanks is the star of pop singer Carly Rae Jepson’s new music video for her song, “I Really Like You.” He hilariously plays himself while lip syncing to the song, stopping for selfies with fans and putting his hand in front of a paparazzo’s camera lens.
A certain pop singer makes a surprise cameo at the end (watch to find out who) but it’s Tom who steals the show as he keeps up with the dancers and grooves to the song.
If you’re wondering why a movie star like Tom Hanks would agree to appear in a pop music video, it’s because he’s friends with Carly Rae’s manager, Scooter Braun. Carly Rae told ABC News: “He was telling him how I had this vision for like a male lead, that I wanted to have this guy sing the song rather than me, and I thought it would be really comedic and funny, especially if it was someone totally unexpected. And Tom was like, ‘Well, why don’t you guys ever ask me?’ So I got a call from Scooter three days before Christmas, like, ‘What about Tom Hanks?’ I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me? That’s Christmas come early! So, yes, please!'”
